Mavic Clone STL Files and Details
« on: January 19, 2017, 10:14:24 AM »

The STL files are in the download section. You need to be a member to see this section.

I've now uploaded the STL files to the download section of this site.  They are free, but if you can afford it please donate a little so I can go out and buy the components to finish it :-)

At this present time the model is 99% completed, however I can't afford the electronics to finish is, hence the donate option......

So, this is a very simple build compared to the Inspire.. below are the bits I've originally designed this around although I've not bought the bits to try them yet.... be warned.

Current component wish list... I was hoping for a sponsor but nothing as yet
Naze32 Full with GPS
F3 Racing FC with GPS  (prob upgrade to one with OSD included)
HC-SR04 Sonar
FrSky X4R
28mm Diameter Motors (not sure which)
Fatshark V2 camera
Vtx (small)
8" folding props (mavic clones maybe)
Multistar 3000 3S battery (just fits nice)

Bits you will need to build the Mavic up are..
4 off M3 x 40mm with nyloc nuts (body bottom)
6 off M3 x 25mm with nyloc nuts (legs & front)
2 off M3 x 20mm (front feet)

1.75mm filament to pin the catch and front legs

I've allowed to have 5mm LED's in the nose 2 off if you want to add them as well... That's it :-)

Attached are some photos for you.

So for the next version I'm looking at installing some LED's RGB at the rear. I've found some on eBay for 2.50 (2x2) so they should come in a day or so.  The idea is to make a little slot so you can use some thin opaque plastic like the side of a plastic milk container which should just slide into place.

Just printing a new base out now to try..

Also ordered a new 0.4 hotend as my 0.3.. when printing on 0.3 layers seems to miss bits, on 0.2 it's fine.. but 0.2 is a 5 hour print !!  lol

Hi Seamus, I'm open to suggestions. I was looking at the INAV version of cleanflight, from reading it's not bad at all. However, I've not played for nearly 2 years and things have moved on somewhat..

Are you printing with 100% infill?

Hi B4dlands,

No all prints are in PLA 30% infill using the hex pattern. They seem very strong to be honest although I've not crashed it 'yet'.. lol It's a lot stronger than my inspire clone.. and a lot quicker to print :-)  I'm doing 0.3mm layers at the moment and they seem to be coming out great. I've done 2 1kg rolls so far.. but I guess you would normally get about 4 full mavic's from one roll.. its just I do a lot of trial and error prints.. lol

Hi DangerD welcome to the forums,

They look value for money :-)  They have the same motor pattern as the one's I've used so would fit no problem.  Depending on what props you go for.. if it's the mavic ones then you might just have to sand the lugs down as you only have 5 gaps at the top, not 6 so would not sit flat.

I snipped the lugs off the props on mine, see below; My were cooy props off ebay .. set of 4 for about 8

I've ordered a F3 Racing Deluxe with built in OSD.. should be here next week, my other one's not turned up yet! Should of been with ne last Thursday.

Hi,

Don't you need separate speed controllers for those motors(http://www.banggood.com/4X-Racerstar-Racing-Edition-2208-BR2208-1800KV-2-3S-Brushless-Motor-For-280-300-Frame-RC-Multirotor-p-1097147.html?admitad_uid=993e6d0ab65a3a774485cfffa55cf8e1)  ?
The ones that CdRsKuLL is using have build in speed controllers.

Best regards,
Flavius

Hi Flavius,

Sorry yes you're correct. There is a bit of room down each side that could accomadate the esc's if needed.. On the black window ones I have put a meter on and the negitive wires (motor / servo) are connected so I'm just going run the single servo wire down my legs for more room.  I've ordered a small PDB to go and the back and also provide 5v to the FC / RX / Leds etc.. that should come next week too. (picture below)

Hello CdRsKuLL,

Do you have any pictures on how you attached the camera dongle?
Also what size M3 did you used for it?

Cheers,
Flavius

Hi Danger, it says the motors are currently in stock..
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/black-widow-2208-18a-10d-ccw-1800kv.html

The gimbal I've chosen but not yet purchased was a alexmos 2 axis for the size.. but yours seems a similar size but a 3 axis.   Amazing job rewinding your own motors.. I had a quick read, well over my head.. lol.  I'm yet to buy any gimbals bits.
