Mavic Clone with Naza
« on: February 22, 2017, 07:59:48 PM »
Just a bit of an update..

The good news is.. it WILL fit, but space is tight. I will be removing the plastic housing from the GPS puck and making a new nose section to hold it.. but other than this I think I'm nearly done. Initial tests show I have 2mm spare so I can also add a battery bottom to make it all look neat.

Couple of photos, hoping to get it released tomorrow evening.

That's looking sweet Steve. Think I'll ditch the SPracing and go with the Naza. Probably go with the M V2, it's 1mm wider so will have to shave a bit off the posts.

Cheers

Hi fella,

Didn't know the v2 is 1mm wider. I can just make the change for you, would only take seconds.. remind me if I forget when it's released. :-)

Hi, first of all, sorry for my bad english
according to naza specifications http://wiki.dji.com/en/index.php/Naza-M_Mounting_Location_Setting the naza controller must be in center or gravity of the drone
Maybe it makes no difference but it's testing

Hi Josemvelho,

The actual Naza will not be very far off the COG .. the gps puke you code into the software part I think where it is in relation to the centre of the craft. So it should be okay :-)

Sadly the design is taking longer than I thought. The middle / nose and top will need redoing as I didn't expect the GPS to sit diagonal.. takes up loads of room. I measure it 29mm square when you take it out of it's plastic puck...

O well, at least the base is done :-) Final version is printing out at the moment for testing.

okay, all done I think :-)  Good news is it all fits.. bad news is I've had to move the fixings for the top plate in order to fit it all.. what does this mean?  That 3rd party parts wont currently fit.. so they will need changing too. Really sorry about this, nothing I can do really.

So.. lots of new parts. I'm printing out a new base at the moment but I think everything will fit so will release in an hour or two.. :-)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what exactly do you mean by 3rd party parts?

I believe he is referring to the parts in the section of the forum that are redesigned or made that are not the original STLs he releases.

Hey Super, no question is a silly one and Phospherus is spot on. Member '12382' designed some new top plates but these wont fit this version. He might move the front holes or even do a version that will cover both in the future but for now they won't fit.

I created a separate forum for these bits - http://diyrc.co.uk/3rd-party-parts-12/  Its so people can share there upgraded designs :-) Also helps me improve my designs too.

I so nearly released the naza stl's last night but on final build I forgot about the battery and it caught on screw I had added to the front! opps.. so I've now changed that I'm i'm printing of 'another' base / middle / battery base plate / foot / led holder.. lol Going to have to order some more filament at this rate.. might as well order some anyway ..

Hi Steve

Have the arms changed at all with the Naza version? If not I can start getting them ready as I think my FC will be here tomorrow. I can confirm then if the V2 is 1mm wider that the lite.

Cheers

Hi Tony,

The arms are the same :-) and so is the rear lid / catch / front feet.

I've had a bit of a mare with my printer the last few days and today just unusable as it was jumping on the x axis, missing teeth and causing a shifting in the print, well thats what I thought anyway. It was really bad this morning, to the point it was a waste of time trying to do anything. So.. I stripped it all down, cleaned the belts checked everything and put it all back together.. Only it still did it!  So.. I've now just replaced the motor wires to see if that sorts it.. looking good so far :-) I think because of all the printing the wires have broken inside and causes the x axis motor to loose power.. making it skip steps.. finger crossed I've nailed it.. lol

Top man.. let me know on the v2 side if you need a bit of tweaking.
