This is great effort! do share the final stl files. thanks

Thought I would share my attempt on making a 3axis gimbal for the mobius camera lens with extension cable (or other types of cameras with seperate lens).
I have yet to receive my gimbal controller, so it is not tested yet!

The gimbal has free pitch and roll movement, but yaw is somewhat limited by the lens touching the pitch motor, but should be decent enough for normal flying.

anyways, sorry for my bad english and thank you for the awesome work on designing the mavic clone.

Just popping in to confirm that the above cable works perfectly with the Firefly Q6 , why is this good news ? well simply put it means that the only part needed on the gimbal is the lens and it very small circuit board , the rest of the unit can be safely tucked into the body of the quad. It is also controllable via the transmitter for taking video and photographs.

Hi, You just confirmed what I was thinking. Q6 has an image stabilization built in. Plus the FPV cable compatibility. Combine this with the 3 axis gimbal Yawron is working on. Ultimate stabilization! My plan is, As you rightly said, Q6 Lens (12MP, 120 degree wide angle lens) detached can be fitted to Yawron's 3 Axis gimbal. Then connect this with the 51pins, 0.3mm spacing ribbon cable that you highlighted, to the camera board resting inside the drone body. Only issue is the extra battery of q6, Is there a way the camera board can directly be connected to the drone battery?

Indeed a challenge. As you are aware every nook and cranny in the real mavic is occupied; If i recall one of the members "eungyo" did a mod to hollow out out the top back. This would be more suitable for the Mobius as it has less components. But we must appreciate the feasibility of things as well. We need to look at the obvious, minimized the number of peripherals added in the body, such as using  motors with built in Esc's and less bulky components. remove the plastic housings if feasible. these are just my observations. I am not a designer by any measure. But that is the whole fun, making it happen.

great I need more space for ion batteries. Can you share hollow top back solidworks file ?
thank you

@scousethief, can you provide me the dimensions for the Q6 pcb as well as the hole placement? Thanks.

9mm motors seem a good size, https://m.banggood.com/Happymodel-SE0603-1S-16000KV-19000KV-Brushless-Motor-for-RC-FPV-Racing-Drone-p-1283531.html?
The kv is way too high though, does that mean it needs more or less windings? Less would be easy to convert of course, I just unwind some wire lol. Adding wire into those things is where the problems would lie.

The other idea I came up with is whether a brushed motor set up could work if a hall effect sensor or somthing was added to give position info then I guess a board and software that will put a brake on the motor. Might not be any better than using  a servo though.

I've a runcam split v2 coming in the morning so just looking at my choices for a home brew gimbal, ive a board somewhere that I need to find first, I suspect it's a normal sized controller instead of a mini so I'll possibly be waiting on a smaller board as well before the days out lol.

Maybe these motors geared down could be an idea, mounted with a belt and pulley it would be smooth and have great holding.
