Need help with a scaled up (134%) mavic buld
« on: June 30, 2018, 12:01:48 PM »
Hi all DIYs,

First all credit to the project initiator and build of the drone.
If you ever are "north of the wall", let me know.

Well I have started my build (which consist of PLA for body with 30% infill and PETG for legs/arms also top parts with 40% infill) and finished printing, installing and assembly of the model.
When I tested it today, it wouldn't lift, even at full throttle. The ecalc with similar components stated that it would hover for about 7 mins.

The build consist of the following:
  • Multistar 2212 920kv motors with 9443 props
  • Afro 20A Race spec mini ESC BEC
  • Multistar 3S 3000mAh 10C battery
  • Naza M lite flushed to Naza M V2
  • Diatone V8 PDB

The total weight of the drone with battery is about 1260 grams.

So to my question, is this set up to heavy for my battery, motor and prop?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have a nice weekend and happy flying

Br

Any pics of the printed parts? Would be interested to see it when scaled up.

Would also like to see how this scaled up version looks...

Do you mind uploading the CAD/STL Files of your scale?

Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany!

Sorry for the late reply, been traveling.
Here is the printed drone.

Since the drone has not been flown iím unsure if I should upload the step files.
Let me know.
At the moment the listed electronic above do work and have been flown with an F450 drone,
Will try the mavic model again as soon I have time

Hi,

Today i finally was able to fly the mavic.
It turns out that the initial cause of it not being able to lift was a rookie mistake ::) were i had mounted the props wrong.
And led to the motors not generating lift in the correct orientation.
Anyhow I have now changed the motors to these with 9X4.7 props.
I still have to some modifications to the model before i can upload the files.

For those that have scaled up their mavic, how many amps battery are you using with your setup?
I think I will upgrade my lipo from a 3S 3000mah to 3s 5000mah+ to get more fly time.
Today when i flew the drone without a gimble or action camera, I got only 11 minutes of flight time using the 3S 3000mah lipo pack.
