Using original Mavic Pro camera in a diy gimbal
« on: March 06, 2018, 10:02:01 AM »
I was wondering if anyone tried to use the original mavic pro camera in their diy gimbal design instead of the runcam or anything else. Would be this possible somehow?

I think many where thinking about it.
The problems I see:
- Where is the Gimbal Controller in the real Mavic? Im sure it is not a separate board but on the Mainboard
- Even if it is a separate Board, you wont find the Interfaces you need (f.e. a analog output for the FPV Video Signal)
- Right now there a only a few Solutions to use a Digital Video Signal as FPV Signal and they are all oversized and wonīt fit into the Mavic.

So overall I would say NO, it is not possible

BUT:
Im curious if you could connect the Original Mavic Lens Cable with the Runcam Split Mainboard...
The Ribbon Cables of both look pretty much the same, only the connectors are different.
That would give you at least the possibility to use a Mavic Gimbal together with your own Gimbal Controller and Runcam Split Board.
But I donīt really have high hopes that is a "Plug&Play" thing  :(

Well judging from this, i would say it's a seperate board but yeah i doubt i will find the interfaces. I was thinking the same thing about connecting the camera lens to the runcam split board but i wasn't sure if the connectors are the same since i don't have a runcam split nearby.
