Motor in wheel RC
« on: February 11, 2017, 07:36:05 PM »
First and fore most I want to give credit to Johnny1070 on thingiverse for the files I used for my RC, check out his project over there( Powered wheel truggy)

I originally wanted to do this to my Ofna CRT.5 but since its not being made any more, I thought if I ever wanted to return it to stock, I'd be hard up since parts are hard to get. So I got to looking on my RC shelf and found my Traxxas Slash 4x4 and thought yes thats the one. So I got to thinking, and found Slash 4x4 arms to print as well(sorry I cant remember who made them, but they're on thingiverse) I decided to do the printed arms in PLA as a test, seeing as I have to cut them up to make the motor hub fit. When I get the test pieces the way I want, I will then re-do the arms in a flexible nylon to give them flex but yet still be sturdy enough to take some hits from objects. Or maybe use factory Slash arms??
Next I have to print the wheels he has provided, so the motors can bolt up to them.

Before and after. The top is a stock arm, bottom is one that has been cut to fit the hub. And the bottom is all mocked together(dont mind the drill bit as I had to ream the holes out)
