Yes.  Connect to webpage and upload the stl that way. Or connect USB directly to pi.  So I did a port coward on my router so I can monitor my prints while away.  I can cancel prints. Change temps and speed.   I octopi is pretty cool.

Oww. I've not looked at OctoPi .. It would work on my marlin firmware I'm guessing too. And I have a webcam knocking about somewhere.  It might be worth starting a new thread with details.. (hint hint).. lol

Hahah that's a good idea.  We should start one.  I can go ahead a write something up on my best way to set up and view prints away from home.

Steve you should not have any problems setting up with marlin.  I know a few people that either use different types of printers with octopi.

A side note.  Their is a kickstarter that some company is doing a sla printer powered by raspberry pi.  I looked into it and decided not to go for it since the cheapest printer was like 1500.  But still pretty cool that it's powered by the pi.   Another reason why it's such a bloody awesome board.

Discount, we should have done a group buy.

Using a raspberry pi or dedicated small pc to run the printer is definitely the way to go. Solaris/unix is my job so I also have a multitude of RPIs to play with.

Kondratev, who did you order your printer from?

Busted44.  I love Linux.   I'm currently in cyber security field and also use it too.

For the printer I originally contacted Gary like steve said and then Gary has other guy named ritto contact me further about the printer.  I'm talking to him in the morning.  I'll mention it to to him that possibly another person may be interested.  And see what he can do.

Please do mention another possible sale when you next speak to Ritto. That may be the decider for me to purchase one.

I'm now curious about these new printers Steve might be getting to review.

is OctoPi upto the job?

I've read there were issues with it crashing. I've only ever used replicatorG and Simplify3D to create the gcode, stick it onto a SD card and print that way, sometimes via USB for small prints.

I'll have to look at the octopi.. something else to do!

I can confirm I'll be receiving a Dremel 3d printer for review in the next week or so. Now, this is more a plug and play PLA printer. It's not the cheapest either but sometimes if pressing a button is all you have to do then it might just be worth every penny. They say it's one of the easiest printers to setup and use.. really!  we shall have to see about that.

Nice, shame its only pla but not the end of the world, maybe they will let you keep it. Probably more trouble for them to get it back and rerfurb it.

Yep.. only PLA for now....   ;-)  would they really want it back after I've finished with it! ..

At least it will allow me to print a few mavic's to possibly give away! :-)
