Ivan, thanks for the info, I am still deciding whether to get one or not.

Me wants but also I am waiting to see what the competition come out with in this proice bracket.

Anytime.... yeaaa I do t blame you if you wait.  Just a matter of time before others come out with one like it.  Remember at one time a 3D printer was thousands of dollars.  It's only a matter of time before sla is really affordable.

Have you guys got an eta for your printers?

After a bit of googling I found the Moai on Kickstarter and almost purchased that but the delivery date was June

HUZZAH.. We are back from a great time in Florida.

Good news is my Duplicator 7 has arrived. Not sure what state it will be in as the box is a bit dented, UPS did try and deliver it three times so it's been about a bit.

I'm tired after all the travelling so will unpack and do a video soon.

I'll be adding a proper review once I have it printing and I know a bit more about what I'm doing.. lol but I have unboxed it and given it a once over.  So far...

Although the packaging box was dinted in a couple of places the machine was very well packaged, lots of foam was surrounding the printer and once unpacked not a mark or damage was on it.  However, on inspection I noticed that the bed (z axis) had serious wobble. To adjust this it should be a simple case of loosen a couple of grub screws, rotate a concentric bearing and tighten the two grub screws back up. On mine, this wasnt the case as it has been all stuck together with glue / loctite / thread lock.  It was a bit of a job stripping it all down, cleaning all the components and rebuilding. This I'm guessing should NOT be the case and hopefully Wanhao will take note.

I then proceeded to power the printer up and noticed the button at the front did not light up. I'm a bit anal so if it has a button that could / should light up then I want it to. So I removed the front cover via 4 countersunk screws and after a bit of inspection noticed that I needed to add a positive wire to the button. 5 minutes later I had a button that now lights up. :-)

That's as far as I've got at the moment. I'll be doing a video with these details in later, just need to get it printing first so I can then talk about everything I've done to help others.

Well.. I've connected it up to a laptop and doing my first print, I even remembered to set the power options on the laptop never to turn off the screen. Just used the default settings from Wanhao and the Creation workshop.  You need to home the Z before clicking print which is a pain.. but I'll swap to a rasp pi I think and nanodlp once I know its all working :-)  I did do a brief dry run and can confirm the screen works etc.. see attached photo. It's now printing a 3 hour Benchy scale 50%.. no idea if it will turn out and you can't see it printing so it's a bit like magic I'm guessing when its done.. lol

Will report back in a few hours... time to tidy up my office ready for a printer review.

:-(  first print is a fail.. it didnt stick to the bed so I've ended up with a very flat boat.. lol   I've now cleaned the bed and put a bit of 240 sand paper over it.. now reprinting to see if it works this time.

Second print.. RESULT :-)   Dam it's small and the detail is amazing !!  Its still a bit wet as I washed it in soapy water.. I need to get a wash kit sorted out but.. It printed, very happy. I'm guessing roughing the base up a bit did the job.  Below is a photo next to a bit of 1.75mm filament so you can see just how dam small it is. ..

Now, what shall I print next?

Damn, I'm wishing I had ordered one now. I have to keep telling myself to finish other projects first.

It took 1hr 30 mins.. No other resin at the moment but I'm going to order some funtodo I think. I've flashed the firmware so I can now use NanoDLP on the Rasp. That's all installed now and I'm doing the first print.  I think it's defo the way to go as you don't need a laptop / PC on all the time and you have no risk of dragging windows over the print screen.  Once it's done the first print I'm going to try and hide the rasp in the base.. hoping it will all fit.  I've added a wifi usb and I will add a 5v RC BEC to power it from the 12v PSU.. So it should all be nice enclosed unit, one power lead and that's it. :-)  I think I will add some more cooling fans to get rid of the extra heat generated by the pi.

I'll be doing a bit of a video soon. :-)
