Introduce yourself...
« on: March 28, 2017, 08:22:14 PM »
Just for fun.. here's a topic to introduce yourself. This is where you stand up and announce your an RCoholic.. :-)

Hi, my name is Steve and I'm an RCoholic! I grew up around RC as my dad was a member of a local club flying planes and racing cars. I think it just got en-grained in me and from then on it's never really left.

I design and sell custodial and cleanroom led lighting for my real job. I'm a big geek and love technology, built my own printer / cnc and plenty of other things including a nearly finished Lambo kitcar. I code in vb.net and have wrote some apps on Android.

My current printer is a XYZ 1.1 plus with the guts ripped out and replaced with a Ramps1.4 running marlin firmware. Currently added auto bed-leveling.

I'll no doubt be here for a while.. I don't think I'll ever be cured!

Hi.  My name is Ivan And I too think i am becoming a RCoholic.  I have always thought they were awesome but never got into them until I got into 3D printing.   Started searching online and finally found this place.   I'm brand new at building rc's and still have not flown one.  But super excited for this project.

I am not new to technology and I love it.  I surround my self around it can't can't live life without it.  I truly am addicted to it haha.  For my day job.  I work in the cyber security field for the u.s government.  Currently stationed in Naples, Italy.  I love my job and I could not think of a better one for me.

Since cyber security is my real passion.  I like enter  competitions for hacking.   Pretty fun stuff.  Basically they give you a target and you try to get in the fastest.  Or find something hidden.  I really like to use python for coding since I deal with the raspberry pi's a lot.  Eveantually wheni get the hang of drone flight.  I would like to incorporate a raspberry pi on my drone.  I have some plans for it.   Maybe a separate topic to post about.

Anyway.  Been 3D printing for about 2 years.   Have learned so much about it.  Currently have 2 CTC dual printers that have numerous upgrades.  Now a 3rd coming in that will be a sla printer.

I will never be cured too.   In fact it will just get worse as technology gets better.

Hi. My name is Stefan and a I am a technology geek, but completely new to rc flying and drones.

I got myself the real Mavic Pro about a week ago to see if I like this hobby, or if I would sell it for a little loss and move on to something else. And guess what, I got hooked immediately and now I want to learn more about this entire field. I am sure building my own drone will be fun and educational at the same time.

My number one hobby is riding electric unicyles. I use a Kingsong KS16 to commute to work during the summer months. I use it more like a mountain bike along hiking paths. For me the riding experience is as much fun as snowboarding or skiing which I also love. I live in a region with mountains and forests and I use my unicyle to explore them and having a compact drone with me is a nice plus.

In my real job I oversee the engineering departments of a company that is specialized in providing custom made material handling, conveying and storage solutions mainly for the automotive industry. These days I use the Autodesk Design Collection with Inventor as main CAD program for private projects since we use this at work and I got a free home-use license from Autodesk.

I am looking forward to build my first drone and would like to thank CdRsKuLL for his great designs and for running this community.

Hey Stefan,

Welcome to the forums and many thanks for the generous donation. The pennies will go to fund the next project which I should be starting once I've got the mavic completely finished. :-)  I'm hoping to do the VTOL plane.. well unless someone has a Spark I can borrow for a few weeks :-)

I've added you a title of 'Elite DIY RC Supporter' which doesn't really mean anything but it has been said that gaining this title enables you to drive electric cars without crashing.. All I know it's greatly appreciated. :-)

Take care,

Steve

Stefan, I also ride everyday an electric bike with a Brushless motor of about 400 watts and a 60V battery. Maybe one day you decide to design a brushless motor for an ultra heavy duty drone...or for a make shift bike.

Names Hayden, currently living in Japan. Car enthusiast (I drive a Toyota Supra MKIV), technology geek, gamer, and an aircraft mechanic. I work on C-130's right now, or as I like to call them, flying garbage cans. Recently became a father, and I have a very understanding and patient wife, otherwise I wouldn't have time to be posting here XD.

Hayden,
Welcome to the group. It would be very interesting to see your builds. Definitely it is good to have and understanding wife and become a stay home father and build stuff while taking care of the baby, Lol.  Please post your C-130 or any interesting thing that you have made.

Thanks Bioethical, I should specify, I didn't make a C-130 model, I actually work on them. I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade. I work on the hydraulics systems.

Hello, my name is Kevin.  I'm an avid RC'er from way back and retired USAF F-16 maintenance.

I've a real interest in building an Inspire clone until I can afford a hex or octo rotor drone that can carry my DSLR.  I think what you people have done here is awe-inspiring.

First, I have to get my DaVinci 1.1 sorted to print parts for my next printer.  I've contacted CdRsKuLL several times hoping he'll push some info my direction...

Cheers!

Kev
