F4 v2 build 4.1 with camera
« on: November 01, 2018, 05:26:59 PM »
Hi guys, new to the site and this will be my first fully printed multi as I've always been sceptical of strength but you can't all be wrong lol.

I've just started printing the bits, I aim to end up with a gimbal on the front but I'm unsure of the camera yet.
In my parts bin I've a few fcs but all a year or 2 old now. I've a new naza I thought I would use but I do like the auto flying modes the real mavic has and from memory the naza can't do that so I'm printing the bits while I ponder what to do.

One last thing,
I'm printing in glow in the dark filament!

Thanks.

I've made my mind up, I'm going to leave the naza v2 for its intended project.
I want the expandability of a f3 build so I've been shopping.

I've gone for an all in 1 solution, the prospect of one part blowing and scrapping the lot is scary but I'm willing to give it a go.

I've gone for some motors on the cheaper side but seem to have a following,

The GPS side of things eluded me a bit, I'm used to plug and play so I've used my best guess,
https://m.banggood.com/7M8M-M8N-GPS-Module-for-APM-Pixhawk-CC3D-Naze32-F3-Flight-Control-p-1078657.html?rmmds=myorders

I've also ordered a set original props and some carbon fibre run quiet copies.

I hope nothing's too wrong in those?

I'm guessing the middle body part I printed above is different to the f3 version I'm now printing and will need to be redone?

Quick question for anyone reading,
Ive printed the bits and before I start cleaning them up I couldn't stop myself from doing a dry fit to see where I'm up to he he.

I've noticed there's no room under the front arm pivot for the nut without the rear arms hitting it when folded. What am I missing or do you all just fold the arms until they hit the nuts and make do with that?
I'm thinking the only way round it is to use countersunk bolts and let them in underneath and have the nut on top.
Any hints?

Forgive the mess I've not cleaned the slurry off yet.

You're right, I never really noticed it before. I guess the best solution would be to put some holes in the rear legs to enable them to sit flush.

Thanks for your reply.
I think i'm going to use some countersunk screws and machine a nice low profile dome nut for the top.

You've posted in my build thread, I think you meant to post in the files thread. I'm afraid the answers to your questions won't be answered here you will get more responce in the correct threads.

The stuff from China has arrived, just waiting on the ball plungers now.
Time to start trial fitting stuff I think :)

So ive finally sorted out some space to build mine, I've got to remodel the base to fit the electronics I've got but other than reduced battery height I've no real concerns at the moment.
The mounting points for the 4in1 board need moving a couple of mm to fit the board and the ultra sonic module holes need moving to suit.

Finally got the new base printed, it needs a little fettle here and there but I'm reasonably happy. You'll notice the fc mounts moved, the rear light made closer to the original and the p8cture frame hole replaced. The cooling slots made longer on the bottom and a new mounting point on the rear. Un-needed mounts removed. The ultrasonic sensor needed moving rearwards and has now got solid mounting points.

I don't know why this forum keeps rotating my pics 90' sorry.

Unfortunatley I need to alter and reprint the base, the ultra sound holes are 1mm out (i guessed at 25mm spacing but they are 26mm) and the fc mounting holes seem to be in the original spots for some reason.
Looking into gimbal design over the next few days.

Just this second off the printer and not even cleaned up this is v2, I'm a lot happier with this one, the fc mounts are perfect and the ultra sound module just drops in.
Now I can start to think about a new battery tray due to the 4in1 being so much higher.
I haven't gotten round to finding my gimbal stuff yet so haven't done much about that side of things.
