Mavic Build Diaries / Re: A new build from Miami
« on: July 12, 2018, 08:10:05 AM »
Hey Archangr,

Love your build, it's a big challenge to take on and more involved than people first think. It takes a lot of time, patience and commitment to get it to a flying model. :-) so congrats.

Thanks also for your donation :-)  I've got a few projects on the go but I've just bought a Prusa Mk3 (took the plunge) so it will go towards that and some filament ready for the next model.

You are also now an Elite DIYRC Supporter, this doesn't really mean anything to be honest. BUT some say obtaining this title allows you special JEDI RC powers when flying your drones... All I know it's that I'm grateful and happy flying padawan.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  And after holding it now it is a bit smaller.. BUT it might still be possible to stick a Naza in, just with a smaller battery. (maybe)

I've not looked at the F4 FCs for a bit, maybe one of those comes with gps etc..

Need to have a bit of a think what the best way would be to print this thing...

Got to say I'm really looking forward to picking a Mavic Air up in a few hours :-) I've been watching a few videos and I'm impressed.

So, after looking on Thingiverse and I couldn't see an Air clone. Do you want me to start doing one?

Thinking about getting a Mavic Air.. worth creating a printable model?

Great job :-) nothing better than getting it up in the air for the first time and it doing what it should.  I found myself being more careful with the one I built than the real mavic. Silly really, but you do tend to form a bond with it after all the work you put in.

Wow.. super steady, you have to be impressed with it. Great build without a doubt :-)  Done in a short time too, well compared to my original one which was months and months.  Be interested in how the legs hold up to any heat generated by the esc's, but they fit well, nice find.

I see you have extended the rear legs to get it level. Has it flown yet?

I installed some TMC2130's in my A5.. only using them in dumb mode so I think they act the same as your 2208's..  Completely agree, they work so well and hardly any sound now. Superb upgrade, and yes I too had to reverse the direction in the firmware. :-)

Oh, and the gimbal worked but then runcam stopped selling it due to some copyright infringement I think.. someone's designed others now which look better for the splitcam.

The 4.1 F3 only difference is that it uses the naza 4.1 components from the middle upwards and the f3 below this. I don't have it actually modelled up as one, just half of one, the rest of another if you know what I mean.  If you deleted the bottom  half and then imported bottom half f3 iges  files then that's 4.1

I can have a look if I get chance at the weekend if you want?

Thanks

Steve
