Hi AndruL:

Where did you get those decals or stickers with DJI logos?  They looked really cool.

you can lay it out using a simple sticker design SW and print it out on your color printer at home on glossy sticker paper

Use the Pixhawk or one of its smaller variances (I used PixFalcon). Full autonomous functions including Follow-me.

David,

Great idea! Have you consider the Turnigy Evolution Digital Radio from Hobbyking. Pretty compact 8ch radio at a reasonable price.

Test flight. Hovered at 25% throttle. Motors draw 8A. 22min hover time landing at 3.55V per cell.

Just luck. Some guy was taking his Mavic apart and selling for parts.

Audiot, a heads up. Just did a hover test. Amazingly stable. Haven't even tuned PID yet. The motors are very efficient, only drawing 7.5A hovering while the 3D frame with black widow motors sucked up to >16A. Gimbal was smooth as butter. Flight time should be great. Loving this build.

KDan asked already but somehow he got ignored :)
How much did you two pay for the Real Frame parts?

I paid $80 for mine including motors.

Hi AndruL!
U rule!!! :D
I'm in the middle of the same project.
I really like the DJI Mavic…
But not DJI's spare parts policy…
It is surprisingly good space on the inside of the body.
Incredibly lightweight.
I have created an adapter plate for standard flight controller(30.5x30.5), usb and sonar.

Yes, Audiot, much better than my 3D printed frame. AUW on this build including gimbal and battery is 780g while the 3D frame was 1,100g. Should be able to get > 20min out of this with the Mavic battery. Planning on the Spark next.

Awesome Idea to use a Mavic Body :)
Can you give us some details about the electronics you used especially for the Gimbal?

Specs for the quad:

- Original Mavic frame, motors, quite props, fan and Battery
- Full PixFalcon set with Telem, MinimOSD, LED module, PDB.
- 4-in-1 20A ESC
- FrSky 3/16 channel X4R Rx

Specs for the Camera, Gimbal:
- RunCam Split
- 2204, 260KV gimbal motors
- Mini 3-Axis Alexmos BGC controller
- Motor arms, frame routed from CF boards
- 600mW Vtx

Yes, details please!

Which DJI parts did you use? As someone who does not own an original Mavic, I can not tell which parts are original DJI parts (other than the frame) from the photos. Are all of the electronics original DJI Mavic parts? They look like they might be. Costs?

What about the gimbal mount and gimbal motors?
Which parts of this build are actually custom designed or generic (non-DJI) parts?

The frame, motors, props and battery are DJI parts.

Another Mavic clone. This time going with the actual frame instead of 3D printed. Redesigned the gimbal for the Split to make it a little more compact.
